Awarded Annually at the Opening Regatta
Commodore Auguste Capdevielle Trophy
This trophy was purchased by the Gulf Yachting Association in 1941 following the tragic death of Commodore Capdevielle who was killed in an automobile accident in the summer of 1940. He died just six months after being elected Commodore of the Southern Yacht Club. He served as GYA Commodore from 1936 to 1939. This trophy is awarded each year at the Opening Regatta to the winning GYA Club for the scheduled Capdevielle events.
Commodore Scheib was GYA Commodore in 1953 and served as its Secretary-Treasurer for 40 years until his death in 1980. This trophy was presented to the GYA by Commodore Scheib in
1978	and is presented to the winning GYA Club at the annual Opening Regatta. Commodore Scheib is responsible for having the NAYRU (now US SAILING) change the deeds of gift to allow clubs in the South to participate in all three National Sailing Championships, the Sears, Adams and Mallory Cups.
This trophy was presented to the GYA by Commodore Dane’s son, Jack, to be awarded in the Masters Regatta in conjunction with the annual Opening Regatta. This competition is amongst GYA member sailors 50 years and older. Commodore Dane was Southern Yacht Club Commodore from 1937 to 1938.
This trophy is awarded on an annual basis to the GYA Member Club exhibiting the most outstanding race management during the previous year. The winner is determined by the GYA Race Management Committee.
Gulf Yachting Association 420 Championship Trophy
This trophy, presented by Southern Yacht Club in 1994, is awarded to the Junior skipper and crew winning the 420 Championship at the Opening Regatta.
