BWYC History Page Feature
Forty six (46) years ago in the summer of 1966, Sara, Rosemary and Judy won for themselves and for BWYC its first (1st) of twelve (12) GYA All Ladies Knost Regatta Championships. It was a 3 race series and each of the BWYC Ladies with their crews won their respective race. GYA competition in the Commodore Bernard L. Knost All Ladies Championship for the Knost Perpetual Trophy started in 1938 and has continued annually through 2012 except for the war years 1943 -1946. 1966 Bay-Waveland Winners
The Bay-Waveland Yacht Club won the annual Knost Skipperette Regatta in Pass Christian for the first time in 1966. They are (far left) BWYC Skipperette Sara McFarland and (far right) Rosemary McFarland and Judy Reeves. Holding the Knost perpetual trophy (center left) is PCYC Commodore Sandy Hillyer, and beside him is (center right) Charles Knost, brother of the late PCYC Commodore Bernard L. Knost.
