Wp invite a careful perusal of thp accompanying corresDondenco between our attorney and the United States Commissioner of Fish and Fisheries, and also the accompanying letter from F. C. Shriner & Co., which was written by one thoroughly posted on the subject and will give a better insight into the true effect of the Dredge than we are able to give; and, after a full consideration of the subject, we invoke the aid of all those havi:.g the true interest of the Sea Coast at heart, and respectfully ask you to join us in a petition, which we will present to the Board of Supervisors, asking them to so modify the ordinance as to allow dredging in deep water, unier proper restrictions, such as culling the oysters in the waters where taken, etc.
We confidently expect, within the next few years tha_t_ Harrison County, though its oyster interests, will ba the..,richest County in the State; and'certainly no sane man would suooose for a moment that we would,'knowingly, inaugurate a system that would result in injury to so important an industry, and one in which we ourselves are so vitally interested.
Respectfully,
LOPEZ, DUNBAR'S SONS & CO.
