road construction in the area will not be necessary because all lots in the sub-divison will have access to either Lower Bay Road or US-90.
A 19 unit Magnolia Cove subdivision to be located off the Kiln Deslile Road and bordering Rotten Bayou was also approved by the board. Owners of the project, SJS (Hildon Shaw, Hewy Johnson and Clifton Saucier) Investments, plan to develop 19 lots in the area.
Well water and septic tanks have been approved for the site by the State Board of Health.
Scafide said $16,000 of road construction is all that is necessary for lots in the area to begin to be sold.
Phase Two of a Quail Ridge Estates subdivison was also approved Monday. That subdivison will be located at White Cypress Lakes subdivision on Caesar Road near Necaise Crossing. The development will contain 138 lots varying from .6 acres to two or three acres, Scafide said.
Talmadge Bickham from Zachary, La. are the project owners. Scafidi said a water system will be supplied by White Cypress Lakes subdivision but septic tanks have been approved by the board of health.
Also during the Monday meeting, the board approved a resolution in favor of the first plan by the staff of a Special Joint Legislative Reapportionment Committee which recommends 18 precincts in Hancock County be included with 12 precincts in western Harrison County to form a new Senate district with George Smith the incumbent.
Hancock State Representative J.P. Compretta requested the action be taken since the senate district is ‘more compact’ contains fewer precincts, and breaks only two county lines as opposed to a second plan proposed by the staff.
The second plan recommends Hancock be included in a senate district extending from Hancock to Jackson County.
The boards resolution will be sent to the staff, board members agreed.
