Historic Sites Chairman
The Hancock County Historical Society
Post Office Box 1340
Bay St. Louis, Mississippi 39520
Dear Mrs. Gibbens:
We would very much appreciate it if the Hancock County Historical Society could ask the City of Bay St. Louis to have the "Shieldsboro" state historical marker moved to a site selected by your committee. It is our concern that the marker's present location does not permit interested persons to stop and read; too, we fear that in its present location the marker could easily be hit by an automobile and be destroyed.
If you could prevail upon the City of Bay St. Louis to have its maintenance crew move the marker, we would be very grateful. Because the new location of the marker would not be along a state highway, this Department cannot legally ask that the work be undertaken by the State Highway Department.
Many thanks for you assistance.
Sincerely,
Norman Chronister
