Dear Mrs. Price:
Thanks very much for your invitation to address the Hancock County Historical Society. At this time, however, I cannot give a definite answer as I am too busy with the Pearl River project to commit myself until possibly June.
When I know more about my plans, I will contact you concerning this matter. If your society has any information on Lowtown, I would be most interested. So far I have not found out when it was first settled, or if it still exists. All I know is that it apparently began because of the large amounts of lumber being shipped down the Pearl River, and that the mill there closed down about 1927. Any information about this town and Pearlington as well will be greatly appreciated. If you have knowledge of steamboats, flatboats, keel boats, etc., that would be especially helpful.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Bill Moore Research Associate
