KILLED IN ACTION
PVT. DONALD J. MONTI
On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Pedro Monti were advised by the War Department that their son Donald J. Monti had been killed in action August 28, in France.
He attended Bay High and St. Stanislaus, graduating from the latter institution on June 1st, 1943. He was a letterman on the Stanislaus football team during his senior year.
He entered the army on July 14, 1943, and took his basic training at Camp Hood, Texas. He was assigned as a Cadreman at Camp Hood and | later at Camp Blanding, being an instructor in the use of care of the rifle.
He was home on furlough during May. Reported to Camp Meade, Maryland, and went overseas. He had been across for a little over two months.
A quiet unassuming boy, who was loved and admired by all who knew him—a good son. He gave his life in the defense of his Country.
