-Very fine weather is on the programme.
-Remarkably good weather prevails in this section.
-The Bay prospers liberally for the efforts put forth.
-It is rumored the Bay is to be afflicted with a minstrel show.
-Mrs. H. S. Hyatt has spent a few days visiting at Handsboro.
-We have not heard of a Hancock county farmer attending the institute.
-An excursion to Ship Island from Pearlington, the Bay and Pass will be in order on Saturday.
-We are requested by Mr. Edgar Delery to state that his connection with the Progress has ceased. -Hancock county goes to the democratic congressional convention 30 strong enthused for Van Eaton.
-Messrs. H. S. Hyatt and Ben Lane Posey have been at Mississippi City attending the Farmers' Institute.
-Mr. Robert, engineer of the N. 0. and N. E., and wife, and Mrs. Hooke, of Chattanooga, have come to this delightful resort for a few months.
-Wm. Ames, of the M. V. railroad, who has been detained here a couple of weeks by sickness, is convalescing under the treatment of Dr. Turner.
-The wife and daughter of Mr. M. E. S. Posey, assistant engineer of the L. and N., have gone to their old home at Loudon, Ky., for a protracted visit.
-Judge Henderson, with a party of friends - including Gen. S. D. Lee, president of the A. and M. College - visited Ship Island Saturday on the revenue cutter.
-W. H. McClintock, chief engineer of the L. and N. railroad, has changed his headquarters from this place to Montgomery. His family has gone to Louisville for a few months.
-The republican congressional convention held at our courthouse on Tuesday unanimously nominated ex-Congressman John R. Lynch. The issue will be, as two years ago, Lynch vs. Van Eaton.
The nominee was in attendance.

-We had a pleasant call last Tuesday from Mr. Ben F. Lindsey, deputy collector of customs at Bay.

-Capt. John Poitevent, of the firm of Poitevnt, Favre & Co., of Pearlington, was here last Saturday attending the sale of the DeSmet mill property.
-Gov. Robert Lowry has been spending several days at Pass Christian this week, and is looked for over here soon. He comes to inspect Lowry's island, which is now being surveyed.
-We are told that one day last week, one dozen chickens were shipped by express from Pearlington to Rev. Joshua Heard, at Brandon, the express charges on which were $11.75. The chickens were not worth more than $3.
