I am pleased to officially inform you that Bay St. Louis will be awarded a survey and planning matching grant to conduct an architectural survey of the city. In conjunction with the survey, I have hired George Johnston, Jr. and Richard McNeel. Both are graduates of Mississippi State's architecture program and have had a good background in architectural history and historic preservation.

You will be receiving shortly the final paperwork from our grants manager,
Yvonne Williams and we hope to begin the survey in early June. To help the surveyors in their research, I have asked Mrs. Peggy Gibbens to ask members of the Hancock County Historical Society to canvas homeowners for any old photos or historical information they might have.
