Dear Mr. Hilliard:
Our Historic Sites Survey Committee is in the process of surveying buildings of Hancock County. The Committee is in the structure of the Hancock County Historical Society. Our purpose is to eventually create a Historic District,,
As chairman I am interested in having some areas of concern to me clearifiedo We will have in the District several arbeological sites and some areas shown as Ruins on the Geodetic Map. One of these ruins I believe from deed records reference to be an Indian burial ground. We also have a site which is believed to be a former arsenal of over 100 yrs. Is there someone in the department who can come to Bay St. Louis and check this for us0 We would not want to make this information known untile, it is screened0
I also would like to know how a Society such as ours would present a "Certificate of Significance" to a person who has restored a property and preserved it. We have one of this category here and would like to know tne procedure and what the qualifications would be to qualify it.
