EARLIEST BAPTISMS RECORDED AT OUR OF THE GULF CHURCH
This book is divided into four (4) parts. Pages 1 through 172 are entitled "BLANCS" or white people and this was generally followed until 1869.
The second section, pages 173 through 180, is entitled "GENS de COULEUR LIBRE" or Free Colored People and was followed from 1848 until about 1869.
The third section is covered by page. 181, entitled "ESCLAVES" or slaves and continued in numerical sequence until the fall of 1865. The remaining pages in Book 1 then all baptismals regardless of race, color or station in life. Care should be taken in researching of names of persons - page numbers and dates should be noted.
