A SUSPICIOUS VESSEL THE MAGNOLIA DETAINED AT QUARANTINE ON ACCOUNT OF YELLOW FEVER
Washington, July 16: —
The Marine Hospital Bureau is informed of the arrival at Ship Island Station, Miss., of the Norwegian bark Magnolia from Rio Janeiro with a clean bill of health, notwithstanding the fact that the captain and four of her crew died from yellow fever after leaving Rio Janeiro. The vessel will be detained at Quarantine.
In order to correct any false impression that may exist in regard to the Norwegian bark Magnolia. now lying in Quarantine and reported to have Yellow Fever	on board, the matter has	been	thoroughly
investigated and the	following facts obtained	from	perfectly reliable
and trustworthy sources:
The Magnolia left Rio de Janeiro about forty days ago with a clean bill of health bound	for Pensacola. A few days after leaving Rio	the
captain and four men	died of yellow fever and	were	buried at sea.
On the arrival of the vessel at Pensacola she was ordered into quarantine at Ship Island for detention.and fumigation. She was immediately isolated and disinfected, and no furtfter sickness has developed since the death of the captain and four men over a month ago.
Vessels arriving from infected ports are placed in quarantine and absolute non-intercourse is maintained at all times, and no one is permitted to visit the quarantine grounds under any pretense.
In the case of the Magnolia extra precuation has been taken to guard against persons coming in contact with the vessel, and a double guard has been placed around her.

American brig John Swan, 300 tons, Henry, Master, from Aspinwald, in quarantine.
British steamship Hemstead. 1^00 tons, in quarantine.
Norwegian bark Carich, 1000 tons, Gendersen, master, b2 days from Rio de Janeiro, in quarantine.
