MFETING OF THE STATE BOARD OF HEALTH
The following gentlemen, Members of the State Board of Health, met at the Montross Hotel Thursday night:
Dr. J« M. Taylor, President, of Corinth Dr. Wirt Johnson, Secretary, of Jackson Dr. W. F. Myer, of Holly Springs Dr. J. W. Bennett, of Brookhaven Dr. Robert Kells, of Jackson Dr. R. S. Toombs, of Greenville
Dr. J. J. Harry, President of the Harrison County Board of Health
J. V.r. Stevart of Moss Point, Secretary of the Jackson County
Board of Health
Dr. A. Parker Champlin of Bay St. Louis, were also present, together vith the local physicians.
The object of the meeting of the State Board of Health vas for the purpose of establishing Quarantine or Inspection Stations along the coast for the protection of its citizens, inasmuch as the United States Marine Hospital Station vas to be removed from Ship Island.
The Board decided to establish an Inspection Station at Ship Island and appoint a County Board of Health for Harrison County, to work under the direction of the State Board.
A suggestion vas also made that each member of the Board ix h in his official capacity petition Col. Thos. R. Stockdale, the Member of Congress from this District, urging him to use his influence vith the Government to ha turn ov er. the Government buildings, etc., now on Ship Island for the Benefit of the State Board of Health.
