The Honorable Trent Lott, Member U. S. House of Representatives March 12, 1979
In light of the new estimate of less than $2,500 actual cost for a $40,000+ project, I think the cash could and should be raised locally. It would be a great thing to promote and a rallying point for the community. Mr. Barth is a nationally recognized artist whose works have been exhibited in prestigious museums and purchased for discrimination collections. It would be a shame to let his offer go Begging.
It is possible that the Mississippi Arts Commission might consider a $1,000 contribution toward this project.
Sincerely
Theo Inman Program Director
