For many years, concerned citizens across the southeastern United States have sought to perpetuate and memorialize the memory of Bartram and his travels. Many State Bartram Trail societies were formed to carry out this work and promote public interest. In late 1975 and early 1976, the Bartram Trail Conference was established with two citizen members appointed by the Governor of each affected State, and other interested citizens. The conference thus is closely representative of public interest and concern iu the area.
Inquiries concerning study may be addreased to Robert M. Baker, Regional Director, Southeast Region, Bureau of Outdoor Recreation,
