Carroll Silverman Bowers
WAVELAND - Carroll Silverman Bowers, 84, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, in Gulfport.
Mr. Bowers was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Waveland for the past 16 years. He was a graduate of Alcee Fortier High School and was the owner of Chartres Antiques for 61 years. He was a member of the Congregation Temple Sinai, Historical Society of Bay St. Louis, Mid-America Appraisal Association and was a 32nd degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine L. Bloch Bowers; a son, Robert I. Bowers of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Lawleen B. Kaplan of Alexandria, La., and Judith W. Bowers of River Ridge, La.; two stepdaughters, Ann B. Vogel of Kenner, La., and Bonnie B. Loewenstein of Slidell; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hebrew Rest Cemetery No. 3 at the comer of Frenchmen and Pelopidas streets in New Orleans. Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
The family prefers memorials to the charity of one's choice.
