-From The New Orleans Genesis VII,, #26, p. 162 An Early French Land Grant in St. Tammany Parish to the Sieur Joseph Desruisseaux. Translated from the French by Sidney L. Villere:
"...And, on February 25, 1785, Jean - Baptiste COMBELLE,requested the Spanish Government for a concession of land of 3 arpents front with 80 arpents in depth on Bayou Liberty', one-half mile from Lake Pontchartrain. On the same day, M. Estevan Miro, Governor of Louisiana, ordered Mr. Charles Laveau Trudeau, Surveyor General of the Province, to survey same. On May 25, 1793, the Sieur Jean - Baptiste COMBELLE wrote on the bottom of the surveyor's decree, and bekw his seal, "sold to Mr. Peyroux," his land, and with his signature, that of his wife, Louise Fromentin Combelle....
