Dear Mrs. daValt;
The restoration and surfacing on George Mallard?s portrait are beautiful, although that comes as no surprise, considering your reputation for salvaging the unsalvageable.
However, the surprise, and a delightful one it is, stems from the fact that you donated your service in this work. We appreciate that greatly. Being devoted to the preservation of our history, we take special pride in our joint effort with you in this instance to save the portrait of such a prominent resident of the city.
On behalf of our Board of Directors and myself, we thank you for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Charles H. Gray Historian, HCHS
