Washington Gallander, aged 11 years, William Gallander, aged 8 years, Mintoria Gallander, aged
9	years, and James Gallander, aged 3 years [1850 Federal Census for Shieldsborough. Hancock Co, MS],
From data I have collected, I strongly suspect that my great-great-grandfather, Joseph Henry Gallender, Sr., is related to the family of Henry Gallenger/Gallander rather than the family of Michael Gallenger/Gallander, but I am counting on you to verify or disprove my theory through Mississippi records. Family tradition relates that Joseph Henry Gallender, Sr. had a twin sister named Mary Nacile (or Nazile) Gallender, who married a man named Carver, lived in Bay St. Louis, Hancock County, Mississippi, and died in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi, and a half brother named James "Jim" Gallender, who lived at one time in Meridian, Lauderdale County, Mississippi.
I would like to obtain certified copies of the following Hancock County, Mississippi marriage records (licenses, certificates): Washington Gallender and Ann Morris, married October 14, 1861; Maryan Gallender and Oen Miller, married November 27, 1864; Mintoria Gallender and E. S. Herford, married April 1, 1870; Nacile Gallender and Peter Carver, married May 1, 1872; and James Gallender and Adelaide Eugenia Laizer, married May 8, 1875. Also, I would like to obtain a certified copy of Henry and Mary Ann Callander's marriage record (court or church), which probably occurred sometime between 1828-1838 in Hancock County, Mississippi.
I am most interested in tracing the relationship between Joseph Henry Gallender, Sr., Mary Nacile (or Nazile) Gallender, and James Gallender, as well as verifying whether they were siblings and the children of Henry Gallender. Perhaps Joseph Henry Gallender, Sr., and Mary Nacile Gallender were children of Henry Gallender's first marriage, and James Gallender is one of the many children of Henry's marriage to Mary Ann. I am hoping that primary records, such as birth, marriage, death, probate, and obituaries may reveal the relationships between the Gallenger/Gallender families of Hancock County, Mississippi.
During the course of my research I have discovered some confusion over Mary Nacile (Nazile) Gallender and her husband Peter Carver of Bay St. Louis, Hancock County, Mississippi. In the International Genealogical Index of the Mormon Church, Marie (Mary) Nazile Bourgeois, bom circa 1826 in Waveland, Hancock County, Mississippi, married Peter Carver, Sr., who was born on February 21, 1822 in Waveland, Hancock County, Mississippi. The resemblance in names, dates, and locations between Mary Nacile (Nazile) Gallender and Marie (Mary) Nazile Bourgeois, who both married men named Peter Carver of St. Louis Bay, Mississippi are too similar to disregard. I am confident that further research can untangle the relationships between the Gallender, Bourgeois, and Carver families of Hancock County, Mississippi.
My great-great-grandfather, Joseph Henry Gallender, Sr., was born in approximately 1834 in Gainesville, Hancock County, Mississippi [Joseph Henry Gallender, Sr. Civil War record]. The 1850 Federal Census for Pike County, Mississippi listed Joseph Galender, aged 18 years, born in Mississippi, and a farmhand living with the Boon family [1850 Federal Census for 3rd Police
