With a motto of Strive not to equal but to excel, the Class of ?68 was graduated from Valena C. Jor.es High School on Monday in the school gymnasium.
Lionel Acker wa.c^'aledicto-rian, James WherJSkjr., saluta-torlan, and McDouglas Gates, Gilbert Gillum, Milton Hargett, Barbara Hawkins, Lonnie Jordan, Alphonse Sheppard, honor students.
Wearing their class colors of blue and gold accepting special awards were Lionel Acker and Barbara Hawkins, American Legion medals; James Wheat, industrial 2rts trophy;
Barbara Hawkins, homemaking trophy.
Two eighth graders, Eleanor Price and William Carter, were also awarded American Legion medals by John Rutherford acting on behalf of Russell Elliott.
Invocation was by Soger . Jones and benediction by Rev. Jeston Tillman. Addresses, Air Our Thoughts, Using our Education, and Knowledge, Power and Honor, were given by Wheat, Gilbert Gillum, jr., class president; and Barbara Hawkins, secretary, National Honor Society; respectively. Acker spoke on the Shape of Our Fu-
ture.
. Superintendent J.D. McCullouch presented diplomas assisted by the school?s principal, J.S. Price.
