Marilyn Lane Sirmon, in her book on Solomon Lee ~ 1982, developed considerable evidence that Solomon Lee, 1757-1818, of New Hanover County, North Carolina, Black River District, was the brother of James Lee. In this same publication, Mrs. Sirmon produced evidence that "Samuel Lee, who in 1808 deeded land in Barnwell District, South Carolina, to his "beloved newphew Solomon Lee" (presumably Solomon Lee, Jr.) was the brother of Solomon Lee."
This gives us considerable evidence that Bryant Lee had at least three sons; Samuel, Solomon, and James. I have examined the evidence produced by Mrs. Sirmon and I am satisfied that James Lee had at least those two brothers.
The DAR Roster of Soldiers from North Carolina in the American Revolution list the following members of the Lee family from the Wilmington District, New Hanover County being a part of that district,: Solomon Lee, James Lee, Jessie Lee, Sampson Lee, Joseph Lee, David Lee,
and C........ Lee all in the Militia, and Noah Lee in the Continental.
James and Solomon have already been identified as brothers. No doubt, some of these other are brothers, or other relatives of Solomon and James Lee.
Decendants of Solomon Lee 175?-1818 migrated to Mississippi. All of these decendants are recorded in Mrs. Marilyn Lane Sirmon?s book, Solomon Lee - 1982. A copy of this book is in the genealogy section of the Picayune, 16. library.
I found James Lee listed in New Hanover County, North Carolina in the first United Stated Census taken in 1790. I also found him listed in an earlier North Carolina State census.
