The Krohn Family - Henry A. Krohn was bom in Hamburg, Germany during the early years of the 1800's. His mother was from the Rostov area in East Germany. Up until 1827, Henry remained in Hamburg, but was determined to go to America to work for his fortune. He arrived in New Orleans about 1827 and in time made the acquaintance of Marie Solitelle Quave (Cuevas). They were married at St. Louis Cathedral. He returned to Biloxi for a few years then purchased a large parcel of land in the Cedar Lake area, where he and Marie reared their large family of about twelve children. Henry worked hard not only on his property but as a member, then president, of the Police Board, which ran Harrison County. It was he who began the western reaches of the Pass Christian Road, so that that particular Road would be complete to the Bay of St. Louis. Henry died in 1853, a rather young man, but one who had accomplished much. Marie died at the beginning of the Civil War in 1861, after seeing 4 of her sons go off to this War.
