The Trochesset Family - Jean Trochesset was bom in the Department of Lozere in France. Because of the poor soil (filled with rocks) in the mountainous area into which he was bom, his family eventually moved to the neighboring Department of Gard. He left his parents, brother and sister and eventually ended up in New Orleans. Not finding too much to do there, he decided to cross Lake Pontchartrain to see what possibilities for work existed there. He found some work and better yet, he found a wife.
