He never married and lived near Picayune, MS where he operated a general merchandise store with his sister, Marsoline. They accumulated a sizable fortune, but were beat out of it by a swindler that sold him worthless oil stocks. Considered to be a very intelligent man, the family blames “old age” as the reason why Thomas let himself be taken advantage of We can remember visiting this old man on several occasions at his old home near Picayune on “Lott McCarty” Road.
