n? information on any of Charles children other than
Im September 1811 he and six children started their trip through the Indian Nation. It is probable that winter caught them in what is mow James towm, Alabama and caused him to have to live with the Cherokees but the following is probably more truthful. His two prior homes were im Lincoln county North Carolina amd Rickland county South Carolina where Cherokee Indians were a large percentage of the population. Im my opinion he had learned their language very well amd is why the Cherokees allowed him to stay until he died in 1827? this is unusual because Creek Imdiams massacred whites at Burnt Corn, Alabama amd Port Mins, Ala* two years later.
ths Alabama Defimitiom of Ckerokee is Cavedweller,
At Jamestowm is a place called Little River Camyom which is 18 miles lomg amd 300 to 700 feet deep. It kas 13 caves im it wkere the Imdiams lived. .Charles McCarty amd his family spent the winter of 1811 - 1812 in the caves of Little River Canyon with the Cherokees.
