N. H. C. C. C. 1738-1800 by Walker has the following information about James (A) and Jane and their three children Susanna Williams (1) James (2) and John (3).
"1779 Vol. II p. 52 James appointed tax accessor for his district of Black River.
"1782 Vol. II p. 69 freeholders appointed to serve as jurors on Supreme Court District Wilmington:
"James Poitevent, John Devane Sr., John Devane Jr., John Larkins, etc.
"1782 Vol. II p. 72 estate Thomas Rogers deceased, James Poitevent proved will.
"6 April, 1785 Vol. II p. 94 Estate James Poitevent, deceased. Isaac Poitevent (brother, F) and Roger Larkins appointed administrators. Bond 600 pounds with James Larkins, Benjamin Larkins sureties.
"7 April, 1785 Vol. II p. 95 Estate James Poitevent deceased. Isaac Poitevent (F) authorized to sell enough of estate to pay debts.
"5 October, 1785 Vol. II p. 100 Estate James Poitevent deceased - inventory filed by Roger Larkins.
"January 1789 Vol. Ill p. 36 Power of Attorney from James (2) to Isaac Poitevent (F) and Roger Larkins was proved by James Larkins.
"27 Aug., 1793 Vol. Ill p. 93 Estate of James Poitevent deceased - Jane Poitevent allowed eighty pounds for support of her three children for four years.
"17 December, 1799 Vol. IV page 89 estate James Poitevent deceased - James Moore, Jr. Esq., Pettigrew Moore & John Jones to divide estate so as to allot ? to widow, ? to Mrs. Williams & remaining | to "the sons they being underage.
?17 March, 1800 Vol. IV p. 91 Estate of James Portivent, deceased. Appointed James Moore, Jr. Esq., Pettigrew Moore and John Jones to divide estate; to settle A/C of Administrators; and to make allowance to widow to raise and maintain children. They are directed to allot one fourth to widow, one fourth to Mrs. Williams and to leave the other half undivided."
