Mr. Jim Woodrick
Mississippi Department of Archives and History Post Office Box 571 Jackson, MS 39205-0571
Dear Mr. Woodrick:
On behalf of the city of Waveland, I am pleased to attach another application for a historical marker, in this instance for ?Fort? Nicholson. This was until her death the summer home of Eliza Jane Poitevent Nicholson, one of the most illustrious personalities to come out of Hancock County in the 19th century.
As you may observe from the enclosures, Mrs. Nicholson achieved fame and success as a poet and publisher, in spite of her young age and against adversity, She was truly a woman ahead of her time.
I think what follows will be of interest to your department, and that your board will again favor Waveland with an approval.
Please let me know whatever else may be helpful to you. As always, I very much appreciate your fine assistance.
Sincerely,
Russell B. Guerin
