Page 2	Letter	from Mr. Albert DeVane
"Following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, this Thomas DeVane, his wife Margaret Conde, and his father fled France, going first to Scotland where they were given asylum by Queen Anne of Great Briton. From there they went to the Barbadoes W. I., and from there to N.C."
His evidence for this, I do not know. In my research I found a letter written in 1915, by a Thomas Wyatt DeVane of Bladen Co., N.C., written to an uncle of mine, who in 1915, was seeking DeVane history.
This is his story. The first Thomas DeVane and his wife, the Princess Margaret Conde along with his brother James, landed in N.C. That Thomas? wife, Margaret Conde, was a niece of Prince Conde. You know who Prince Conde was--he was a nephew of King Louis XIX (?), known as the Great Conde,
From another source, another story about the same--all stating Margaret Conde was a Princess. So much for that, Now I shall take up the first Thomas Devane and their children, as taken from the Will of Thomas Devane.
Thomas, who married Tabithe Larkins, daughter of John who married Ann Larkin (sisters), Margaret, who married William Jones Esquire, Mary who married Thomas Corbett. In the will, a daughter (deceased) her legacy went to the children of James Poidevent, her maiden name at this time not known.
We now take up the Thomas DeVane II and his wife Margaret Larkins. Their children; Thomas III who married Gregg Blood-worth, sister to Timothy Bloodsworth, N.C. first Senator; Margaret who married William King. You have the King genealogy from	here	on. I shall now take up Thomas	DeVane II	brother
