^enior citizen speaks her mind
Today la my birthday and I am going to celebrate by saying exactly what's on my mind.
It is a delightful experience, for most of us have spent a lifetime suppressing a desire to venture an opinion.
I am now 76 and that's a dangerous age. Allow me to list a? my No. 1 Exercise in Stupidity the practice that pharmacists have of putting medication in ?child proof? containers.
Here's how it works:
Adults with arthritis struggle and become frustrated and angry because they cannot ??push down the middle while lining up the arrows,'' so the blood pressure rises to the point of near stroke until a small grandchild or some pre-	;
school kid in the neighborhood is called in to open j the bottle. Kids enjoy doing tricks their elders	?j
can't do. The pills are then poured into a screw f j top bottle or one with a cork. There must be a	i
lesson in this some place. Do you agree?	j
It also seems to me that regardless of what a	j
person does or does not do he is liable to get	j
involved in a lawsuit costing time, money and	j
inconvenience.
The lawsuit craze is taking this country by storm. It is a phobia. I spend countlesB hours .
inspecting the grounds to make sure there-isn*t ? a protruding root, a loose brick or ptijiaps a Blick ~ snail In the path and Bomebody could fall and bring suit. And what about my oleander? It is said to be poisonouB. The city neutral grounds are full of them, too. I don't think our sales tax can comfortably pay for more lawsuits.
, And then what about the car? Better keep a sharp eye out to see that the seat belts are working satisfactorily. What if a passenger is safely buckled in, an accident occurs that knocks the victim unconscious and unable to release the belt, the auto is on fire, the unfortunate victim dies. Who should the survivors sue? The owner of the car, the makers of the seat belts, or both?
No wonder I have insomnia. Maybe I should take a sleeping pill ? that is, If I tfan get the top off the container.	?
