PASS CHRISTAIN Aug. 31st 1865 Dear Sallie
I arrived home last Thursday much fatigued and a little sick from the effects of my trip from N.Carolina. I have not left the house since. I would have written to you immediately after my arrival but had no opportunity. I will go up to see you & family soon.- I'cannot state positively what day but be assured it will not be long as I am most anxious to be with you. I heard that you was in bad health it makes me more anxious to be with you. Write to me if you have an early opportunity.
I have nothing new, the pass is very dull at present though people are expected from N. Orleans for the summer. Mr. Seals is waiting I must close. Tender my love to Kir. & Mrs. C & accept for-yourself a large portion
In Kaste Yours Devotedly.
John
