HI. Letitia Stanford - according to the John Stanford Sr. Bible, she was born
on March 8, 1803, in Warren County, GA, and died October 17, 1821, in Marion County, MS. She was 18 at the time of her death, and it is believed she was not married at the time - no other record of her has been found.
IV.	Mary Stanford - according to the family Bible she was bom on August 6, 1805, and died on March 23, 1829. Based on our research, she was bom in Warren County, GA. She married (first name unknown) Mitchell and had one son, John W. Mitchell, bom on March 30, 1827, as found in the Bible. This is believed to be her only child, for she was said to be sickly and died shortly after his birth.
This same son is shown living with his grandparents, John and Delila Stanford in the 1850 census of Marion County. He is 23 years old and bom in Louisiana. Possibly Mary was living in Louisiana when she died. In the 1860 census of Marion County, we find him, age 33, bom in Louisiana, living with James Ford and family. In the 1870 census of St. Tammany Parish, LA, we find John W. Stanford, age 43, bom in LA, and his race is white. His wife is listed as Missouri Stanford, age 24, bom in MS, race black, with three children. We feel sure this is the correct Stanford, and with him marrying a black in those days, could explain why the family did not keep up with him or his family. One older relative told us that some of these Mitchell cousins settled around the Derby, MS area.
V.	James Stanford - bom on July 31, 1808, and died December 3, 1821, according to his parent’s family Bible. He was bom in Warren County, GA. Apparently he never married, for there is no other record or memory of this boy.
VI.	Lavina Stanford - bom July 16, 1810, according to her parent’s family Bible. She married Jesse Cameron and raised a large family in Marion County, MS. She is listed with her husband, Jesse Cameron, and her family in the 1850 and 1860 Marion County censuses as bom in Georgia. From our research, we now know she was bom in Warren County, GA. Lavina, called “Aunt Vine-e,” is believed to have died in Marion County sometime after 1860. She is Jerry’s great-great-grandmother. It should be noted that in the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Marion County, Jesse and Lavina Cameron were living not far from Lavina’s parents. As discussed earlier, the Stanfords lived in that part of Marion County, and now the south-west comer of Lamar County, MS. The Camerons lived a few miles south of the Stanford home in what was then Marion County, but now Pearl River County, MS. The Cameron homestead was located near the “Tack-Stanford Road” in Pearl River County, a few hundred yards below the Lamar County line. Jesse and Lavina Cameron were buried in a family cemetery near their home,
or in the Old Howard Cemetery where her parents are known to be buried. This old cemetery is located approximately two miles south of Baxterville, MS, in Lamar County. We have additional information on Lavina Stanford Cameron, her children, grandchildren, etc. in our report on Jesse Cameron
