Ulman Woolen Mill
In the '80 sheep gXJCXXXgpCSifiX raising and wool growing was a combined industry in Waveland and adjoining sections. Alfred Ulman established Waveland1s largest and most outstanding industry the ULMAN WOOLEN MILLS. It was located on Nicholson Avenue, immediately West of the railroad tracks.
The mills were constructed of frame. Principal articles were woolen blankets, shawls. Large black and white plaid shawls were in block pattern and popular. Said to be "ever lasting". Ulman1s father was mayor of Bay St. Louis Died in the early '90 and was buried in Cedar Rest Cemetary. Family home was called Rosedale. The mill was dismantled and sold and a row of houses on Nicholson Avenue were constructed with the materials.
