Van Peski retires after three decades of service
In July 1967, Martha Van Peski joined Coast Electric?s workforce as a file clerk in the general office. At the time, she did not anticipate what the next 32 years would mean to her and to the electric co-op.
On July 19, her co-workers and friends recognized her years of kindness and willingness to help others at a special retirement social.
For the first 10 years of her career, Van Peski worked in several different positions as the association grew and expanded. She was a switchboard operator, posting clerk, keypunch/data entry clerk, and data processing control clerk. In 1976 she was promoted to data processing supervisor.
In 1986, Van Peski was named employee benefits/ personnel coordinator. Her genuine interest in helping others, combined with sincere concern for their needs, made her a natural for the position.
?I really enjoy being of service to people,? she commented. ?Coast Electric has a top benefits package available to its employees and their families. These benefits are a source of encouragement for an employee and family. Coast Electric is an outstanding organization to be a part of,? she said.
Van Peski is well known for her participation in various local organizations and civic
clubs. She actively supported the United Way, the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, Altrusa and the Hancock County Beautification Committee. She is a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
?It is with deep gratitude to Coast Electric?s management, directors and co-workers that I take leave of you. Thank you to those who hired me, to all who inspired me, to all who earned my admiration; thanks for the sorrow we shared, and the celebrations. I wish each of you and the members of Coast Electric Power Association a future of good health, peace, happiness and continued success,? Van Peski said.
