Mr* John Williams
1 ear Mr. Williams :
I am serry I was not in when you came by, however I have had time to go over my references and can relay more to you now in writing.
I did go to Washington D. C. and found some additional information about Pooshemataha, Pushmataha (Apushim-alhtaha, ?the sapling is ready, or finished, for him*- Halbert) In Handbook of American Indians North of Mexico Edited by Frederick Webb Hodge Pt.V.1 Pushmataha Choctaw ef unknown ancestry, borr: on the E. Bank of Noxuba Cr* in Noxubee Co., Miss 1761*5 died at Washington D* C# Dec* 2h$ 1821* before he was 20 years of age he distinguished himself in a expedition against the Osage, w. of the Mississippi*
Moved to Texas, then Spanish Territory. War of lf!2 was in the Pensacola campaign, signed treaties of Nov* 1^, 180?: Oct 2li, l$l6j and Oct. 18 1820*
Died of the croup at 60 years of a^e*
He was not distinguished by ancestry, he was always poor, brave and generous, Pushmataha had remarked he had two wives, the Indian custom of a plurality of wives.
The chief had five children. His oldest son died at the age of 21. The others were younw at the tine of the deccane of their father*
The above is about all I found	of Pushmataha as a person,	and his	ancestry* No reference to his wives,	or names of children.
In Archives "Choctaws By Rleod" I found Bennetti Joseph C, Margaret, Waller Lee, Powell: Julia A Ernest, Susan E, Hubbard, Myrtle, Turner, ^uelah A, Rufus A,,
Key, Keener, Edgar L* Joseph Lewis. Each one of these has an Identification MO.
The I* D* No, is then used to reference in a second book which gives % of Indian blood/ There are micro-film available from Fort Worth Tex, branch of of Archives for lonn or purchase.	Their film are census from	1?5>? to	1901; and
