Obituary Record

Sadler, Carrie  -  January 17, 1901

NECROLOGICAL.

Mrs. Carrie Sadler.

After a long siege of illness , lasting over one year, Mrs. Carrie Sadler, daughter of Captain Caswell Adolphus Sadler, and niece of the late Captain Wm. T. Boardman, entered eternal rest Thursday afternoon, at 3 o'clock. The end was not unexpected. Ever since Sunday death was momentarily expected, and the absent members of the family sent for. Although unconscious, death came peacefully and beautifully released the soul from its imprisoned tenament of clay.

The deceased was a native of New Orleans, born in 1861, and when quite a young girl married John Dunn, a resident of New Orleans, who survives her, also two children, a boy and a girl, Miss Hattie Dunn, a charming young girl of 17 years, and Mr. John Dunn, a promising youth of nineteen years. Besides these relatives the deceased leaves three brothers, Messrs. Walden and Frank Sadler, both engaged in the steamboat business, and Mr. Roland Sadler, connected with the advertising department of the New Orleans Daily Picayune.

The funeral, which was delayed pending the arrival of Mr. Walden Sadler, took place shortly after 10 o'clock this morning and was largely attended, many of the family's friends from New Orleans being present. The burial took place at St. Luke's cemetery and the body laid to rest next to the mother of the deceased who died in September, 1896.

Rev. Cammy, of the Main Street Methodist Church, conducted the obsequies. The pall bearers were Messrs. Richard Caldwell, John A. Breath, Geo. W. Maynard, Carl and Gilbert Marshall and Dr. Spence.

The family feels the loss keenly and are bowed under the heavy weight of an inexpressible grief, and with them the community sympathizes deeply.
