Perkins, H. Grady Sr.  -  February 5, 1966

FORMER CITY OFFICIAL DIED HERE SATURDAY

H. Grady Perkins Sr., 63, died at 10 p.m. Saturday, February 5, shortly after arrival at Hancock General Hospital.

He was stricken earlier at his home with an apparent heart attack.

A native of Broxton, Ga., Mr. Perkins had resided in Bay St. Louis since 1908.

He served as city commissioner for 16 years and was head coach at St. Stanislaus for several years.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Tempie Perkins Evans, Baton Rouge, La., a son, Lt. (Jg.) H. Grady Perkins Jr., Pensacola, Fla., two sisters, Miss Mary Perkins and Miss Gertrude Perkins, and a brother, R. Terrell Perkins, all of Bay St. Louis.

Funeral service was held Monday morning at Riemanns Fahey Whitfield Funeral Home followed by religious rites in Main Street Methodist Church with the Rev. Lamar Martin, pastor, officiating.

Interment was in Cedar Rest Cemetery.

Ben Hille Sr., C. A. Breath Jr., James McDonald, John C. Glover Jr., E. J. Lacoste Jr., Kenneth G. McCarty, Leo Seal Jr., and Norman Renshaw served as pallbearers.

GRADY PERKINS DIES, RITES AT BAY ST. LOUIS

Grady Perkins Sr., 63, a former Bay St. Louis city commissioner and coach at St. Stanislaus College, died Saturday night at 10 o'clock shortly after arrival at Hancock General Hospital in Bay St. Louis. He was stricken earlier at his home, 107 Phillip St., with an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Perkins, born Nov. 21, 1902, in Broxton, Ga., came to Bay St. Louis in 1908.

He served 16 years as commissioner and also was head coach for several years at St. Stanislaus College.

A prayer was held this morning, at Riemanns' Fahey-Whitfield Funeral Home followed by services in the Main Street Methodist Church with the Rev. Lamar Martin, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Cedar Rest Cemetery with Ben Hille Sr., C. A. Breath Jr., James McDonald, John C. Glover Jr., E. J. LaCoste Jr. Kenneth G. McCarty, Leo Seal Jr. and Norman Renshaw as pallbearers.

Mr. Perkins is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Tempie Perkins Evans, Baton Rouge, La.; one son, Lt. (JG) Grady Perkins Jr., Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Miss Mary Perkins and Miss Gertrude Perkins; and one brother, R. Terrell Perkins, Bay St. Louis.
