Aken, Albertus K. (Judge)  -  November 3, 1894

The death of Judge A. K. Aken, which occurred last saturday evening at 5:30 o'clock, was a sad blow to this community.

The Judge was born in Rahway, N.J. on March the 17th, 1819, 75 years ago. Went to New Orleans in 1835 where he resided a number of years. In 1840 was married in Bay St. Louis to Miss Jane Cowand, a sister of the late Jesse Cowand. His wife died in Biloxi during the war. An only child, a son, and five grand children, and two great grand children survive him.

He was a man of rare physical attainments and a few days previous to his death was apparently as well as any man could be at his age.

He was a man firm in his opinions, charitable in his conclusions and just in his judgements, In short he possessed many noble qualities, and commanded the respect and esteem of all who knew him. The Judge held several governmental positions and always acquitted himself creditably.

He was laid to rest on Monday in the Cowand family cemetery, Rev. Nelson Ayres officiating the last sad rites To the grief-stricken son and relatives whom he leaves behind The Echo extends sympathy.
