Obituary Record

Ladner, Delmas  -  January 22, 1913

The death of Delmas Ladner, which occurred in this city at the family home at 12 o'clock Tuesday morning, January 22, 1913, removes from this community one of the best known and oldest citizens, and it is with much regret that we chronicle his demise.

The deceased was a native of Bay St. Louis, and was 82 years of age on last September 1st. His wife preceded him to the grave about twenty years ago. He is survived by nine children, namely: Messrs. Victor Ladner, of Lake Shore; Alcide, Cyril, Sylvan of Bay St. Louis, and Aristide, of New Orleans; Mrs. Jos. D. Saucier, Mrs. Jos. L. Farve, Mrs. Debuisson, Miss Emma Ladner. He is also survived by one brother, Mr. Etienne Ladner.

Mr. Ladner has been ill for the past few months, and while he was improving his advanced age was against him, and the end came peacefully at the family home, surrounded by his loved ones. Before breathing his last he was comforted by the reception of the last sacraments of his (the Catholic) church, by Rev. Father Tourte, who officiated at the funeral ceremony.

The funeral took place Wednesday forenoon and was one of the largest funerals seen here. The ceremony at the house was continued at the church of Our Lady of the Gulf and concluded at Cedar Rest Cemetery, where all that was mortal of this grand old man, who had been loved, honored and revered by more than one generation, having lived more than the allotted scriptural life, was tenderly laid at rest in the keeping of the bosom of mother earth.

The family feels deeply the loss of their parent. They have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
