Sec. 40. Be it further enacted, That in the matter of assess-! ments of real anti personal property in the city of Bay St. Louis, and the levy of taxes in the sale of property upon the non-payment of taxes the city Assessor aud Tax Collector .shall have all the powers, and his duties shall be the same, as , fer as,practicable, as the county assessor and tax-collector under the laws of the State, and all property, real and personal in said * city, shall be assessed every year; and the board of Mayor aud - Aldermen shall have all the powers and their duties shall be the > same, so far as practicable, as the boards of supervisors in the counties under the laws of this State, except that the time and place of meeting of said board of Mayor and -AJdermeii shall be immaterial; and in the matter of collection «f taxes, adve£|ise-t» - ment and sale of property, and the execution- of conveyances,.
; and in all other remedies for the enforcement and payment and. collection of taxes, the City Assessor and Collector so far inapplicable, shall have all the powers and the duties shall be^tlio.-j , same as sheriff as tax collector of the counties; provided, 'that theCity Assessor and Tax Collector of taxes, and the sale of property for the non-payment thereof, may use the original assessment t' rolls, or a fair copy thereof to be [made by] the city Secretary, p and such sales shall be made by said Coleqtor at the front of tlie V : city hall in said city; to the purchaser of realty at such tax ■ sales, the City Assessor and Tax Collector shall execute convey- j ance in the form, as near as applicable, as that prescribed by j. law for a State "and county tax collector s conveyance, and such ; conveyance shall only be invalidated for the same causes or grounds that a State atod county tax collector’s conveyance may be; such conveyance by the City Assessor and Tax Collector shall , vby -him., "as soon after the sale us practicable, be left with the City i Clerk, where they shall remain for one year from the day of sale,

deem the same by paying the amount for which said realty was,' sold with ten per centum damages thereon, for tbe benefit ol th^> purchaser at such sale; in case the same is not redeemed vjthin > the time above mentioned, the title to the property shall, vest absolutely in the purchaser, and the city Secretary shall deliver^ such conveyance to such purchaser; and in case the property is- 1 struck off to the city of Bay St. Louis, which the Assessor and Tax Collector shall do in case the full amount due thereon is not bid and paid, the title to the property on failure to redeem as aforesaid, shall vest absolutely in the city of Bay St. Louis, and the siime may be used, disposed of or conveyed in sucli manner and on such terms as	aimii	hv	ordinance	or	.

Sec. 41. Be it further enacted, That after the day for payment
of taxes, to-wit: the fifteenth (15) day of December of each year, there shall be added daimagea at ten per centum thereon •** and when any‘property is sold for non-payment of, taxes, such damages, with the cost of advertising, shall be added to the assessed taxes and the property sold for the whole amount; the city taxes and the costs and damages in this act mentioned* shall be a lieu on the property assessed, and such lien shall b« . subordinate only to the lien for State and county taxes.	>'
