lations to prevent the introduction of contagious, infectious or ■pestilentious diseases into said city; to make quarantine laws and enforce the same -within two (2) miles of said city; an(} the said Ma^or and Aldermen may by ordinance adopt as the law of ■said city, and for the government of the board of health thereof, any parts of chapter 20 of the Revised Code of this State, and any laws hereafter enacted by the Legislature of this State in reference to the public health of this State, and may exercise in said city pr authorize said board of health to exercise any and all powers now or hereafter conferred upon the State Board of Health, so far as may be appropriate or necessary for the. purpose of preserving (he health of said city; provided, however, that no ordinance, rule or regulation shall be adopted inconsistent with the rules and regulations of tlie State Board of Health, or the Constitution and laws of this State; and said ' Mayor and Aldermen may provide for the punishment of aoy person violating any ordinance of said city authorized in this section, or any rule or ordqr of said Board of Health by fine , not exceeding fifty dollars;, or by imprisonment not exceeding " thirty days, or by both such fine and imprisonment, and such violation shall also he an offense against this State and punishable as provided in said chapter 20th; fifth, ’ to' declare what ‘gliall constitute u nuisance in said city and to prohibit, prevent . and abate the same, and in connection- with al[ matters and things that are or may be hereafter declared as aforesaid to be a nuisance shall be included all shanties and other buildings now erected or may be hereafter attempted to beerected on the beach side of the front street of said city, when the same lj^s a tendency to depreciate in value the property of persons near by, or in any manner obstruct the view of tlje same, or the'breeze therefrom, the same being essential to the cuisfort, con-‘venience and good health of the occupants thereof; and any act done or structure or thing erecttd or suffered after it has been declared by said Mayor and Aldermen to be a nuisance, is liere-i by declared to be such nuisance, and shall be so hejd and considered by all the courts 'of this State as fully as if su^h act, tiling or structure were herein expressly named and prohibited; and said Mayor and Aldermen shall have full power aud authority to provide for the punishment by fine or imprisonment or-both, of any person who shall create or allow any nui&aoce or (	’’who	shaft fail or refuse to remove or abate the same upon such

be removed or abated and by what officers; fixth, to'^utliorize and require-such officers to enter any enclosure or lapon any premises or into any house, railroad car or other vehicle or steamboat or other water craft for the purpose of abating or removing any nuisance or to carry out any order of said Board of Mayor and Aldermen or the Board of Health ; seventh, to pro-■vide for the destruction or confinement of all dogs in the city limits as may in the judgment of said Board of Mayor and Aldermen be necessary at certain seasons of the year, and to provide for taxing »nd muzzling the same; and tlie said Board shall have full power and authority to prevent the runniug at large in the streets of said city all hogs and goats, to establish and regulate public pounds and to provide for taking up, keeping,

- widen, extend, grade, shell or otherwise improve, clean and keep in repair streets, alleys and sidewalks or banquets, and, to fix and establish the permanent grades thereof, and to provide for the lighting of the same ; ninth, to establish', construct, repair and keep in order bridges, culverts, sewers and gutters, aud-to exeroise, control and supervise over, all streets, alleys,^’ . sidewalks, bridges, culverts, sewers and gutters, and to jireveut ' and remove obstructions therefrom, and to punish the obstruct- J ing or encumbering thereof, and to preveut and punish any encroachment upop such streets, alleys, sidewalks or banquets *■ tenth, to require all male inhabitants of said city between the age% ef eighteen (18) and fifty (50) years [except] .active mem- r \ bers of the fire department of said city and such other persoua i as are exempt by the laws of the State from street or road j duty), to work on the public streets and alleys of ssjid city, not ! .exceeding five (5) days of each year, or‘to require tlie pay- i4 ment of a sum not exceeding «two (2) dollars in lieu thereof, ^ and to punish by ^iue or imprisonment or both, any failure or '
