Mr. Elbert Hilliard, Director Department of Archives and History P.O. Bor 571
Jackson, Mississippi 39205 Dear Fr. Hilliard:
In 1986 we had correspondence with Norman Chronister regarding the funding for a State Historical K>arker for placement in Bay St, Louis for the Battle of 1812 in the Bay of St. Louis. We were notified that the State did not have the funds at that time to give the Society to have this marker placed here, however, we are still interested toward the availability of funds for 198? or possibly matching funds for the marker and would kike for you to advise us in this regard.
Also, the Society Is now documenting the history, according to the Dunbar Holand History, that William Flood first came to the land of Simon Favre with the American flag, the Constitution, and the Codes of Law, where the first flag of the United States was brought to Klsslssippl, and we would like to have a marker approved for placement on this historical site at Pearlington, Mississippi. We would first like approval for the marker and, secondly, the possibility of a state historical funded marker.
Yours very truly.
