THE BAY ST. LOUIS REGATTA
IMMENSE CROWD OF SPECTATORS GRAP HIC DESCRIPTION OF THE RACE THE REGATTA THE EVENT OF THE SEASON
Bay St. Louis, Miss., Aug. 19, 1867
Quite a large crowd gathered here today to witness the first regular Regatta that hns taken place on this coast since the war.
The attendance of boats was quite large, considering the loss and destruction of nearly all the yachts during the war. Those who lost their yachts have not reolaced them, and perhaps never will, but it is to be hoped that this manly SDort will be revived, and we may again witness the good old times that gave so much life to Pass Christian and	other	watering places along the coast.
Get together,	you members of the Southern Yacht Club	and
Crescent City Yacht Club; reorganise; try and get up a spirit of rivalry, and let us have a few regattas each season, if only for Auld Lange Syne.
Prizes
The nrizes were given by the citizens of the Bay, and consisted of a SDlendid cake	stand	for the first prize, two beautiful	goblets
for the 2nd prize,	and a	silver mug for the third prize.
In addition to the above, two beautiful flags were presented by Mr. end Mrs. Stapleton of the Bay to be given to the winning boats of the first and second class, the first being a splendid silk United States ensign, and the second a beautiful State of Touisiana fla? with State arms, etc.
A nurse of $75 was also made uo, giving to the cantains of each winning boat !$25, making altogether beautiful as well as serviceable nrizes.
