FISHING - TUR.^F.WTINTNG. ^ 100-150 CATTLE GJUZING October 26, 19^3
Daily Herald - October 27, 1913
At present there are 35 people living on Cat Island, most of their engaged in fishing	or	in the turpentine industry.	The
distillation of turpentine	-will	continue into	December	and possibly
later but the trees are pretty veil exhausted.
Archie Cameron vith one helper and his tvo young 50ns, in nine days, only four of which vere SDent in actual fishing, caught 6,000 lbs. of Kullet and Trout, and in one haul brought 13^ lbs. aboard.
Among the most interesting things on the island, qnd one which speaks veil for its future prosperity, vns a herd of from 100 to 150 beef cattle grazing there. They vere placed on the island by Florian T>edeaux about a year pgo and the yearlings and calves have grovn into slpek, fat cattle.
It is claimed stock of all kinds thrive on the island, and it is probable that a more extensive experiment along that line will be attempted in the near future.
Duck hunting on Cat Island promises to be fine this year.
The marshes are already	fu"11 of	ducks now and	more are	coming	from
the north every day.
