Established 1847 by Bishop J. J.
Chanche, S. S., first Bishop of Natchez. Mother church of Hancock County, third oldest Catholic parish on the Gulf Coast and fifth oldest in Mississippi.
Please manufacture and ship the marker to the Mississippi State Highway Department, P. 0. Box 551, Hattiesburg, Mississippi 39402, to the attention of Mr. Bill Rawls. Please bill the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, P. 0. Box 571, Jackson, Mississippi 39205, to the attention of Mrs. Helen Hux.
As a dedication ceremony for this marker 'is planned for
May 1, we would respectfully request that It be manufactured
expeditiously.
