Samuel Jackson to Andrew Jackson Jr.
Clifton March 18th 1858
Dear Pa
I have received Mas letter saying you had arrived, but I have not heard from you since you left New Orleans, this is the second time I have written you. I told you in my first I had left word to have the Parlour ceiling plastered. I thought afterwards you would not like it, so I countermanded my orders, and it will be painted, as you desired. Col Claiborne sayes you wished the hall to be painted salmon collor, and I was to show them the collor. I went up severell times to see them, but never could find them there, until last week I went up and they painted all the collors they knew, but could not succed in getting it. so I told them to paint it white and you could have it changed when you come down if you saw propper I think every thing will be finished by the last of the week. all are well here, and I hope the same up there. I have three letters for you one from New Orleans, one from Nashville and the other from I suppose Washington City. it came free of postage, has not been post mark but has on it H. G. Browns name, I suppose it aught to be H. V. Brown it is quite thick and also larger than the majority of letters. Ma whished to know the size of the rooms at the Russ place, you will find enclosed the size of them. Give my best love to all and accept the love of your
affectionate son Sami Jackson
