For Easter we dyed eggs. We would use tea or coffee to dye them. I don?t remember hunting eggs.
For Christmas we would go in the woods and cut down a Holly Tree because they had pretty red berries on it. ? I don?t remember decarations. We didn?t wrap gifts you had to wait for Santa Clause and we always got a peppermint stick with our toys. I don?t remember celebrating any other holiday?s??
You got up early on Christmas morning and started cooking dressing, gumbo and all that stuff. What ever you cooked you ate it that day and there was always enough to eat it all. There was no way to keep it unless there was a cold-cold spell.
Clara used to make home made bread. I guess I just learned how to cook. It comes natural. Maybe grandma showed me. Grandma showed us some things.
I don?t regret taking care of my Papa, Brothers and Sisters or any one else that I took care of and I?ve taken care of a lot of people in my days. Maybe it will be a jewel in my crown for heaven, or maybe it will help me get into heaven.
I used to have some boy friends, but I can?t remember their names. She laughed!!!! I don?t regret never getting married; I?ve always seen so much in the family going on. I?m satisfied just the way I am. I have been treated good in my life, I have meet a lot of good people and they were good to me, and I always try to be good to everyone. I don?t need nothing and I don?t want anything. I?m satisfied just the way things are.

We used to have an old dog. He was fourteen years old when he died. Arthur Morrison try to poison him one time but Manuel got the meat it had a white pill in it and took it to the judge but we had the dog tied because he had told us it was killing his animals we knew it wasn?t our dog, but to be sure every night we had to tie him up. He was a good dog.
The night Tony?s house burned down, Manuel and Tony had taken the children to see someone making syrup and Clara had come down to the house and stayed with me and Everita and we heard somebody hollowing. I went and to see who it was, because he or no one would come close to our house because every one knew about the dog.
