under age 5; 2 females, 10-14; and 1 female, 5-9. Excluding the two oldest people in the home (the parents), they had a total of 9 children at that time
3	females and 6 males. Keep in mind, this is how many children they had by 1840, and we know they had at least one more after 1840. It should be noted that in the 1855 and 1865 State Censuses of Middleburgh, Abijah and Betsy both state they were born in "Albany Co."
We found where Abijah Crosby was baptized on June 24, 1804 in the Congregational (Presbyterian) Church in Rensselaerville, NY page 14 of said source. Baptized at the same time were "Jerusha, John, Parthena, Abijah, Corbin, and Salina, children of Jerusha Crosby of the town of Berne and member of this church." We have a copy of the original record stored at the State Archives in Albany, NY. We used the spelling as found and the "Abijah Corbin" are two different people, the minister simply forgot to put the comma between the two names. Abijah Crosby is listed in the 1860 census but missing from the 1870 census where we find his wife, Elizabeth Crosby living with their son, Abiel Crosby. Thus we can assume Abijah died around 1865 in Middleburgh, NY.
Abijah Crosby married Elizabeth "Betsey" Crosby. Their marriage probably took place in or around Berne, NY around 1820 based on the age of their oldest child. When we look at their children's place of birth in the 1855 State Census of Middleburgh, we find, the first six children were born in Albany Co., NY while the last three were born in Schoharie Co., NY. In the 1855 State Census of Middleburg, Schoharie Co., "Abijah and Betsey Crosby" state they moved from Albany Co. to Schoharie Co. "21" years ago, or in the year 1834. Elizabeth "Betsey" Crosby is listed in the 1850 census of Middleburgh, NY, as age 46, thus born 1804, living with husband and children. She is again listed in the 1860 census of same town with family at age 56 (1804). In the 1870 census of Middleburgh, she is listed as "Elizabeth Crosby", age 68, living with her son Abiel Crosby and his family. In 1880 she is still living with her son, Abiel Crosby at age 75 (1805). She and both parents were born in New York.
In the Middleburgh, Schoharie Co., NY Town Clerk's Office, we find the death certificates for three of her children (Hiram, Abiel, and Stephen) with each naming their parents as Abijah Crosby and Betsey Crosby. In the same clerk's office, we find the death certificate for "Betsey Crosby", female, daughter of "Abijah Crosby and Betsey Sherman". The record shows she died on September 2, 1886 in Middleburgh, and she was "82 yrs, 1 month, and 7 days" old at death, or born on July 25, 1804. It also stated she was a widow, and she was to be buried in "Huntersland". We checked that cemetery, and she has no headmarker. The information for her death certificate was given by her son, Hiram Crosby, and we have no reason to believe that it is not accurate. The State's Death Certificate gives all the same information, but omitted her place of birth. From census records, she and her parents were all born in New York State. The official NY State Death Certificate omitted her first name for some reason, but there is no doubt that she is our Elizabeth "Betsey" Crosby marring a Crosby!
Abijah Crosby and Elizabeth "Betsey" Crosby had the following children:
I.	Abiel Crosby - born in 1821 as listed in the 1850 Middleburgh, NY Census with his wife Catherine, age 22; son, Erskine, age 3; and
23
