VIII.	Wilhelm Rickard	- born April	16, 1794
Nicholas Rickard was the son of Johann "George" Rickard/Rickert and Anna "Eva" Staring. George, as we will call him from this point, was born around 1728 and baptized July 7, 1729 in the Town of Schoharie, NY, at the Dutch Reformed Church in Schoharie, NY. George married first to Anna "Eva" Staring. The record of this union is found in the Dutch Reformed Church in Schoharie. On September 21, 1750, George and Eva "registered" to marry according to the record and married that day or soon thereafter. This record says "Jeorg Rickert was the son of Conrad" and "Eva Staring was the daughter of Nicolas, born by the fall". The "fall", the minister named as Eva Staring's place of birth is probably Little Falls, Herkimer Co., NY. Eva Staring was born around 1730 probably in Herkimer Co., NY. This date is assigned because that is two years younger than her husband.
Eva was the daughter of Johann "Nikolaus" Staring (also spelled Starhing, Staringh, Starenbergh, etc.), and he was born in 1663 in Wensheim, Germany and died in 1759 in German Flats, Herkimer Co., NY. Nikolaus Staring married first to Anna Elizabeth Barcke. She was born December 26, 1659 in Marnheim, Germany. They married on July 17, 1686 in Marnheim and had several children there. She apparently died, and he immigrated to America around 1700 based on the ages of his children. Once in America, Nikolaus Staring married Maria Katrina (maiden name unknown) around 1710 somewhere in New York. She had several children by Nikolaus of which our Anna "Eva" Staring is one. This Staring information was partly taken from "Early Families of Herkimer County, NY" by William V. H. Baker, 1986 as found online. Also listed are Eva's half brothers and her full brothers and sisters.
The above George Rickert possibly married a second time to Eve Sternberg.
We say "possibly" because Eva Staring and Eve Sternberg may be one and the same person. As mentioned earlier, the records of Henry Cady are most confusing, full of errors, and give no sources. In his compilation of information, he lists "Gurg Rickard, died Oct 14, 1795, aged 69 years" (born 1726) . Listed under him is "Eve Sternberg, his wife born Oct 6, 1730, died February 9, 1808". Next on the list are Nicholas Rickard and Lea Hummell and next listed are David Rickard and his wife. Nicholas and David are positively sons of our Johann "George" Rickert.
Looking at the marriage record of George Rickert and Eva Staring, it is clear she is a "Staring". The same name (various spellings) is given in the baptismal records of her children to include the youngest, Anna, where the mother is listed as "Eva Staringh".
