While in high school at age 16, I met Jerry David Heitzmann (son of Carl J.G. Heitzmann and Velma A. Zengarling) of Bay St. Louis.
We dated for more than three years and married at St. Clare's Catholic Church in Waveland, MS on December 19, 1970. Following our marriage, we moved to Hattiesburg, MS where Jerry was finishing college, and I finished Nursing School. While in Hattiesburg, we both worked at Forrest General Hospital. Jerry worked as an orderly, and I help to open the Intensive Care Unit in June 1971. We lived in a run-down, one bedroom apartment and later we moved into the University Apartments for married couples. After Jerry graduated with his degree in Criminal Justice, we moved to Jackson, MS where he worked as a Police Officer, and I worked at St. Dominic's Hospital as a RN in the Intensive Care Unit. We lived in a small, but nice one bedroom apartment and made many good friends whom we are still in contact with today! Many fond memories were made in those years and it was in Jackson that we had our first child -Kristy.
In 1975 Jerry took a job with the Mississippi Department of Corrections in Gulfport, MS. We bought a "fixer-upper" house at 2510 Demaret Dr. in Gulfport. While Jerry worked, I took off time to raise our three children.
A.	Kristy Rae Heitzmann - born July 8, 1974 in Jackson, MS. She currently resides in Atlanta, GA.
B.	David Carl Heitzmann - born July 31, 1976 in Gulfport, MS. He married Courtney Helena Webb on June 4, 2005 in Gulfport, MS. They divorced three years later, and he currently resides in Diamondhead, MS. Courtney had one child by a previous marriage named Caitlyn Andrews. David and Courtney had two children:
1.	Bradley David Heitzmann - born December 6, 2005
2.	Carley Ann Heitzmann - born October 15, 2007
C.	Julie Ann Heitzmann - born August 4, 1978 in Gulfport, MS. She married on April 4, 2008 to Stuart Clay LeBlanc in Bay St.
Louis, MS. They currently reside in Lafayette, LA and have one son:
1.	Elliot David LeBlanc - born on September 10, 2009.
In February 1980, we began to build a new home at 702 Third St. in Bay St. Louis and moved into it in September 1980. Once we got the children in school, I went to work at Hancock Medical Center in Bay St. Louis in the pre-op, surgery, and recovery departments part time, but raising my children was always a priority. Jerry and I kept the children busy with sports and other activities, tutoring them, and attending every function they participated in. I guess one can call us successful in our efforts, for all three children have managed to stay out of serious trouble, graduate from college, and are leading happy, productive lives.
